Welcome to TheQuietDeskByShro - a small quiet corner of the internet where my thoughts meet my pen and create a new world parallel to and a reflection of lived reality, my own and that of several others across continents. Here, research meets reflection, creativity melts into curiosity and the personal entangles with the intellectual.
I'm Shrotibha Bansal, a writer, researcher and a dreamer. This website is a reflection of my belief that the most thought provoking and revolutionary ideas and works are born from a place of stillnes, a quiet desk, sitting in silence, thoughts that refuse to leave you and questions that linger long enough to be explored. This website is a collection of all these various strands spanning across subjects and themes like- literature, biology, politics, writing, memories, experimentation and anything I deem worthy enough to be put here. Done in an attempt to create a cohesive, organised and functioning space.
Here, you will find all my academic writing and research process alongside my personal growth all documented with utmost sincerity and honesty. Essays across topics wherein I attempt to make sense of and untangle the complicated threads of existence of a world that is everchanging and moving at an incomputable speed at all times. My personal notebook filled with ideas still in progress, my opinions on everything from political debates and issues to books, series and songs. A creative portfolio holding my creative works that carry pieces of who I am, including letters to my future self and for those who hold an indisputable place in my heart, a shard of my very soul. The works range from literary to visual records as they are also an excellent mirror of who I am and how I interpret life. Some of these works are formal pieces of academia but some are deeply personal while a few are messy thoughts written as they come.
As I start this website I hope that as I grow as a student, writer and a researcher this page grows with me and transforms into an excellent reflection of myself almost like a mirror into my soul. Whether you are a fellow student, thinker, researcher, recruter or simply someone who likes to read and share in on different opinions or maybe get lost in the mystical world of words, dreams and ideas, you have a space here. I hope you are able to find something that resonates with you, something that inspires or comforts or anything else but you feel it. Lastly, I hope this space feels like a safe, accepting room on the internet where every identity- religious, demographic, queer or otherwise can breathe without the fear of judgement, without hesitation to share feelings and opinions. A place where thought, peace, intellectual challenges can coexist with belonging.

In this investigation, I explored how extracts from different plant species under the shola vegetation produce bioactive chemicals which have both antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity. This was an entirely independent research question and research work carried over a period of eight months which included intense research and experimentation.
This presentation was an internal in the university, the reason I mentioned this here was because although we are subconciously aware of how terrible fast fashion is for our planet, the true horrors of this industry are never realised and nor is the scale of destruction. I myself realised a lot of things including the price paid not only by the planet but thousands of workers.
This is a small glimpse of my literary works that I am currently working on, it's a small peek into my thoughts, brain and emotions as they work together to shape these upcoming projects. Although, for nowthis space captures my ideas in their most truthful yet raw form, almost as if they are in motion- unfinished, evolving and alive. Early chapter, half baked plots full of loopholes, sketches of cities- all beginnings of that will hopefully evolve into something complete.
In a reimagined Delhi, where queer circles work underground two men are bearers of a love that can get them killed. In a city where every move gets tracked, they realise too late that a hunter has been closing in on them- they are the prey for a killer who knows too much.
Featuring the daily chaos and drama of a co-ed boarding school, set against the backdrop of my experience at KIS, atop a beautiful mountain in the Palani hills in the sleepy town of Kodaikanal. This collection revisits my memory of each moment that shaped us, even before we realised.
